Am I Pretty
When I Fly?
Joan Baez made her musical debut in 1960, and went on to become an advocate for civil rights and of nonviolent social change—all while having an incalculable influence on Folk, Rock, and the American songbook both as a musician and mentor. Since retiring from active performing, Baez has focused her formidable talents on painting and drawing.
This collection of sketches—drawn upside-down, and often with her non-dominant hand—on themes such as politics, relationships, women, animals, and family opens a window to the persistent and playful mind of one of America’s greatest artists and treasures.
